Westy Atlantic tailgate window seal
I have a 1990 Westy Atlantic with the double glazed plastic back screen which has suffered leakage over the years and has rotted part of the inner skin of the tailgate. I am planning to take the back screen out and get the tailgate welded up and re-painted. Are the screen rubbers any different to models with a glass back screen or are they the same and where is the best place to get one from. Also any sealing tips to stop this happening again would be appreciated.

Is there anything wrong with the seals Just Kampers sell ?
I am having some work done on my rear door and my damaged double glazed window replaced at the end of the month. I have already purchased a new seal from JK but i would like to be sure if their seals are ok before the work starts.

I have gone for the genuine VW one on the advice of Westy Club Joker but it is twice as expensive as the JK's one. My view is that £20 more is cheaper than to have the inner skin welded up again and the pannel re-painted if the seal leaks again. Plus if my understanding of sikaflex is right it will be a real bu**er to ever get the window back out again.

Any T3 that has double glazing will leak, thats what they do.
The seal is the same from 1980 to 1992, only different ones are ones with chrome locking strip (caravelles and californias)
Fit the window and have it sealed in to stop it leaking.
Ones with acrylic windows always seem to leak in the corners and Club Jokers and Atlantics always have rustier than normal tailgates.
