Fuel economy 2.1i ?

Post by gwolf65 »

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any figures for fuel economy on their van.
I'm thinking of buying a Westy van, have seen hi-tops and pop tops with 2.1 litre injection engines but would like to know what the economy is like.
So if you have either of these vans could you let me know what they are like on petrol.
Thanks.

Have a poptop 2.1,expect 18-20 round town,up to 26 on a run.Phone bank manager if you want to cruise at 80+
Ergo bibamus.

I take it they get a bit thirsty when you stick your foot down? Roughly the same as my 1.9 without the speed though.

Convert to LPG and then a lot better...

Pretty environmentally safe as it hasnt been reprocesed and made into several cheap "modern" cars over its lifetime and there isnt a lot of plastics in it, unlike "modern" cars....

Even with most of the interior removed in the back of mine, and the bumpers off, while i'm [slowly] working on it ,i haven't got near the user manual's figure of 30 mpg at 56mph, more like 25 on a run, couldn't live with it if it wasn't for the gas conv, much as i love the thing! tempting as it is to push on to 90, you can almost see the fuel gauge needle dropping! just love the flat 4 sound tho at certain revs :D
