Whn i fitted new floor mats, i moved the accelerator pedal and the rod then obviously popped off the crank below the floor. Whoudl there be a circlip holding this in place? Myine seems a bit fragile in the way that it simply locates in the crank with nothing to keep it in place ... and not enough material on the rod to put a circlip ..sso I'm wonding if I need a new connecting rod ...
or is this just how they all are ..?
Steve
rod between accelerator pedal and crank pops off

I know I know (puuts hand up)
I have just done this!!!!
If you are talking about the rod that clips into the back of the accelerator pedal, and goes through the hole in the floor - then there is no circlip....buit they do wear. But to locate t properly, John had to lie under the bus - whereas I had ben trying from the cab!
Now its located properly, it doesnt keep coming out when driving!!!!. As a guage, go to JK website and look at the part - compar with yours. My old one was visibly worn - there was a groove in it!!!
The circlip in the picture above (which is what I thought I needed) goes over the pin, not the bar.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the JK tip. Here is the rod http://shop.justkampers.com/product_inf ... ts_id/9542
The right hand side of the photo is the end that goes into the steel cam plate beneath the floor. It's hard to tell from the photo but looks like no circlip and that look pretty similar to mine. Maybe i'll just order a new one as perhaps mine has worn.

Steve,
had mine apart yesterday to replace the carpet. I found that I could not seat the bar in the crank properly with it connected to the pedal....it sort of has to go forward to get the "wing" on the bar to locate in the crank...then once in properly, you can bring it back and clip it into the pedal.
But my old bar had a groove in it, and part of the "wing" had worn away.
The new one is deffo better
good luck
