Where can I put it, Eberspacher D1 & not the bin

Post by Krisis »

Hiya,
Just got an eberpacher D1 for the Nancy 8)
The question is where is the best place to mount it? :?
Under the Rock N Roll or in under the buddy seat behind the passenger seat? :?
I am going to be taking the diesel supply off of the main tank and can install power feed without a problem :D
Advice please

Krisis,
You will find there is loads of room under your glove box just below the cross member,,,,,,,,,intake facing the door and out let facing between the seats to warm up the general area beyond the cab.

You may have to use a remote fuel tank rather than use a direct supply, but this is at least a small price to pay for an ideal location which doesn't comprimise more useable storage spaces.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,,,, :D

Sorry to have to disagree with you Fritz :) - but i reckon the benefit of being able to tap off the main fuel tank is a huge one and well worth some use of storage space - however it may be worth looking into if its possible to fit the eber in the passenger foot well and still tap off the main fuel tank. Im sure the eber manual will give you a maximum length of fuel pipe allowed...

I'm not sure where fritz`s derv tank is , but its no further from the return pipe to the front than it is to under the bed, you can use as long a feed pipe as you like, once its bled it makes no odds.............
oh, and you cannot mount a dl1 outside, its not the same as a westy one

Ok,
I have had a look under the dash and some questions have popped into my head. where do the inlet and exhaust fit, it seems to be rather cramped, can i tap into the vans venting system, where could I put a reserve tank, why can i not tap of the main tank? :?
The D1 will not exterior mount due to the model design!
I dont want to mount it on the passenger floor as it would be VERY unsightly
And now that I have it I got to bench test it but what do the green wires connect to, power switch, relay, earth........ :?
I am going to have a coffee / a cig and sit and try and make sense of it.

the heater mounts through the baulkhead, so the zorst and air intake are behind the grill... the two green wires are to the fuel pump, which should be pushing fuel to the heater from a place right nr the tank, not pulling from the heater end...... and they are no louder than any caravan heater from the outside.....

WHY NOT ??? mine is fitted under the van in an eberspacher water tight purpose made box, available from eberspacher, all holes are precut for exhaust, fuel line etc, nothing in the van except for the on/off switch and thermostat (if you have one) pm me for a picture if you like as i cant post one for some reason...

Don't bother with a silencer - the idea is a great one (and they do silence the exhuast) - however, my eber wont stay on for very long when it is fitted....
