Cheers Ray - number is good and I've ordered part from main dealers at £2.52p! but may take 2 days to 4 weeks to arrive.

...which gives me a bit of time to put system back together using spares previously sent from JP.

I'll give JP a call and hopefully they'll supply this alternative to future systems.

A bl@@dy nuisance this part doesn't show up on any drawings anywhere as I'd already been to main dealers looking for an alternative but told there wasn't one!

Cheers,

PART IS CORRECT -probably

Post by Reco »

Part IS CORRECT (probably :?) BUT NEEDS ANOTHER VW PART (025101140) AS WELL (thanks again Ray!).
These are still available but not stock so could take 2 days - 5 weeks to arrive.

These brackets appear to bolt either side of bolts that hold the engine casing together along its middle, and look like they'll fit jp triangular bracket
BUT would like confirmation from soneone who knows that this is where to fix please[/b]- ie if you have fixings on your van to take jp bracket, do they fix to engine casing bolts?

-YES THEY DO!! IGNORE ABOVE!
Confirmation from JPs and now fitted and good!
:D
Important that all joints are LOOSE before fitting support brackets so pipework can flex to new position (I cut off all clamps and used loads plus gas, rubber mallet, screw driver lever etc).
Also copper-slipped replacement manifold bolts, and fitted pipe joints using high temp silicone cos this SS doesn't seem to nip up as mild steel-never sounded so good!
Not sure I dare say it but this could be fixed at last!

Last thing - JPs fitted a van the other day which didn't have engine fittings for support bracket and let it go out like that  So if you recently had exhaust fitted check and go back if it was your van. They are now aware of this and have all vw part numbers.

Cheers for help,
