Suspension
I have a broken rear spring, so I need to get myself some new ones-MOT due! Thinking of getting either the Jamex or Avo off the Baxmeister as a set, but as mines a Westy I think it'll have to be the AVO ones due to the drop on the Jamex ones. But don't tell the wife, she wants me to get the cheapest! Anyway, my question is this-can you change the front springs without taking off the control arm as per Haynes-ie with a spring compressor, if you take off the shocks?

You should only need to undo the top ball joint on the fronts and sring compressors are recomended

The Haynes just says to disconnect the shocker at the bottom, then remove the track control arm. With a jack underneath the arm, obviously. I'm trying to take off as little as possible that might affect the steering. I know I'll have to have it all set up after I've done it, but it's still a daily driver so the least adjustable stuff removed the better. I did the rears this weekend gone, and I'll do the fronts this weekend coming. And yes, it looks like the boot is filled with cement-50mm drop! This saturday morning, I'm going in
