I'm considering replacing the viscious coupling-ooher missus- and would like to know if it's worth paying the extra to get a new one or are the recon units just as good?Is it worth holding on to a duff one in the hope of servicing it locally-I did see the 10,000w.silicon oil for sale in Germany but am not sure of the practicalities of this option (I guess you'd all be doing it if it was straightforward!).Any thoughts?
Cheers.Al

I've noticed the binding when trying to manouevre into a parking space and an unscientific check on the rollers at the MOT centre saw it creep off in crawler gear, mind you without the piece of 4x2.I do use it(the Doka)to carry pretty heavy loads and am not sure whether this will affect the VC adversely.Anybody near Oswestry,Shropshire who has a better idea of these things(well you couldn't really know much less than me) please get in touch!!
If its scrubbing and hopping when close manouvering its aggressive; whether that is too bad is subjective.
I had the same on the first camper I had; fitted a new Austrian sourced VC and it was a different feel all together, all sweetness and light.
Some time later my aggressive VC was fitted into the dodoka project van where it remains and it performs well off-road and nobody has found it too much of an issue on-road.
But I preferred the feel of the camper with the new VC over the old one so did not worry about it.
