Right - i havent done this, but i need to....

Check out the link on brickyard:

http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/forum ... cam+timing

Thats pretty good (give you an idea).

I imagine that the bentley manual will also be a good point of reference (well, i know it is!). PM me your email addy and i will try and send you the pages.

It appears that we need to have specialist tools for this - i need to get my a*** into gear to get them.

There are others on here that have done this many times - try doing a search.

Elvis is one person who has done it - im sure he will be along soon!

Good luck

line up TDC by looking in inspection hole in bell housing , put locking pin into injector pump , remove rocker cover and in an ideal world the bar that slots into the back of the cam slides in and then you 'wedge' each end of the bar with spark plug gapping tools , each side must be exactly same . if not undo cam pully nut DO NOT DO THIS BY SLOTTING A PIECE OF METAL IN THE CAM - it will break!and move pulley on nose of cam until the locking bar is evenly 'gapped' . i have used a big screwdriver in the pulley before - think it is only about 22lb torque (taper fit) . last 2 i have done have been out by 5/10' . enough to make a difference in performance when you do it properly. my tools were£10/15 off fleabay but happy to lend em out for free at cost of postage :D
