Go-Westy syncro progressive springs

Does anyone have any knowledge of these springs from America. In the blurb it states that they are made by H&R in Germany.

I have just emailed Go-westy for a shipping cost.

Does anyone have any ideas about alternatives. As I am in for the long run I am also considering a set of Old Man Emu shocks.

The springs are $500 and the shocks $570.

Any thoughts on suspension gratefully received.

That was my thought adsactly. The front is a little low, but can be corrected with lift plates. 16 years of sag though, and the ambulances kitted out were very heavy.

I looked at these springs when I was buying all my gear to do up my syncro and at the time the dollar exchange wasnt as good as it is today. Shipping to UK/Ireland was about $230 cuz of the weight involved. There are cheaper ways to ship but take a lot longer. I also tried to buy from H&R via the back door using contacts in Germany but to no avail. I like the look of this gear but OME shocks seem to be getting bad press over quality at the moment. I eventually bought front springs and rear spacers from Buschmiede and uprated 16" shocks from Syncro Services. I dont know how it will all work as I still dont have the recon transmission fitted yet. I will let everyone know when the time comes.

However, I think those Go Westy springs look good and are now well priced. Let us know how you get on and dont forget the syncro.org springs as well

Cheers for that, it's interesting reading. I must admit that I had tried VW fro the 16" shocks, but they stated that they were unavailable. Russell though stated that they were still available, but at £400 quid I still think they are too much. We will see. VW i dont think had different springs for the syncro models, or at least not a different one for the 16" Was it Simon Baxter I saw who's making some??

I am just really trying to push this project along a bit now, as I have been unable to get to any shows or meets in it, because at the moment it is a colour test bed and a stripped out van.

Plans are to return to Escorial Green ( gonna roller it with rustoleum) with White or cream roof. Home made light weight camping interior, three battery system with Engel type compressor fridge. Kids bed in roof similar to Dehler for more upper deck head room. Fully intergrated welded 3 point adgustable height rear seat belts. Fully insulated and boarded interior with no furry carpet. Go westy rubber matting flooring. Caravan type double glazed rear windows with integrated fly screen and blinds. Underneath a decoupler, new bushes etc. I am going to keep the Nokian tyres as there wet braking and general road holding is so good, and new springs. Oh and the synchro on third needs sorting. (shame as the gearbox otherwise is mint)

I need to go to bed now, just done mi last night shift.

Simon Baxter is working with someone for 30mm, 50mm and maybe 70mm shorter springs. Never asked about taller springs.

Get Beaker to do your gearbox. He has just completed work on mine and he has all the right bits in stock

I don't see the point of getting longer springs made when VW already make them.

If you want to raise a 4WD vehicle, it's to make it better off road right?

VW T3 2WD front springs will lift your front suspension, are okay for the weight and are a bit softer, which is better off road.

It all depends on what you want, something good on road, or off.

I have longer, adjustable damping rear dampers, HD CV joints (rear and front inner)

$350 dollars for shipping emu shocks and springs. it would be as cheap to fly there miself and fetch the things. CJ mentioned 2wd front springs, i will look into that.

I might be way out here but.........

If you are buying EU made parts from the US there is no import taxes payable, as its a EU part.

Is that right?

If you wanted to raise a 14'' by say 20mm is it easier just to add spacers. Who stocks them?

Busschmeide springs work out at about 240 quid. shipping 25 quid.

very quick response compared to go westy

i wounder if they are h&r springs.

Is this what you are thinking of fitting?

I believe, if I've read it right, that it allows you to switch from 4WD to 2WD.
