No gas!

Post by Andyvandy »

I currently have two Westfalia Campers (anyone want to buy one?!) the problem is I cannot get the gas stove to operate on either of them.

I have had them working in the past but cannot get them to work now.

There is plenty of gas in each tank and if I slacken the pipe connection where it leaves the regulator and cut off tap assembly gas comes out there.

So what is the cause of the problem?

Anyone got an idea?

Had a similar problem with the fridge on my westy. bit of rubber was in the gas line stopped it from working properly. took it apart and got the air compressor to blow the line out.

might be a last solution if it dosnt clear its self.

Are you using the same gas bottle, regulator and pipework to fuel the stoves? Your problem will be there if you are mate. Borrow another set up to try.

Thanks Jon,

Mike - the gas tank is built into the vehicle so they are two separate systems!

It seems strange that both exhibit the same problem.

Thanks

I have had this same problem after I have gave the cooker a good wash(after a weekend cooking on the stove) In my case I think water or cleaning stuff had got in the cooker ring holes.

Hi guys,
watching with interest, have just got 81 westie, and it has same (or seems to be) prob. I know with my other westie that if the small gas diffuser (round heavy thing where the flames are) isnt seated properly the flames blow themselves out, so I am suspecting blockage or restriction of some sort. Have not investigated yet though.

Looks like I'm going to go and have a fiddle with both of them to see why they aren't working.

When I get them working I will post the results up here.
