Well,its not played up for a while now,so I suppose it was "my turn"!
The problem started over a week ago now,when zooming down the M1 to London,had been zooming for about an hour or so,when suddenly noticed a drop in overtaking power,which sort of got worse over a couple of miles until I could barely crawl past lorries,foot to the floor.....When I pulled over it stalled and never restarted.
So,I fill the fuel filter up,and crank it over,eventually it starts and runs great,for a few minutes,then er,air bubbles appear in the line and it dies.
I've replaced fuel filter,fuel T piece valve,and checked line in is not restricted.I've also check when I pull tank pipe off fuel runs out.
I ran the engine from a clean 3 litre bottle of diesel which it happily drank,so I know it's drinking more than a filters worth.
I then reconnected the line, let it run again on idle for about 15 minutes,which 'seemed' like it must have been one of the things I'd replaced as it now ran longer,took it up the road and within 200yds it died!
I don't get where the air is coming from?Or maybe there's a floating blockage in the tank?-is there a way of flushing tank without removing it again?

How many hoses on top of filter? 2 or 4

It's the tdi with tdi filter hence the therm t piece and 4 pipes.... the tanks off now and clear.found nothing but a tiny blob of silicone that had spilled into the pipeway.I'm hoping it was enough to be the culprit...we'll find out after the refit of the tank tomorrow!!
If the pump was only getting fuel from the filter would a lack of boost feeling be normal??-because thats what I'm getting uphill/under load before it starves!
No fault codes.

Yes a JX one as long as its not the "pooh" 4 pipe one, return goes straight back to the tank and the air does not keep going around in circles.
