Anyone know the best way of stopping oil from dripping from the oil filler pipe? It is leaking where the plastic filler joins the metal (?) bit close to the engine. JK don't seem to do a replacement part. Can I just stick some instant gasket round it (after cleaning thoroughly!)?
thanks
Emma

thanks - will phone them up later...last time I asked for a part, they forgot to put me on hold and I listened to an entire conversation about the stupidity of driving a 25yr old van, and that I had not got a hope in hell of getting the part I wanted. Not from them, anyway...
When they came back they started to tell me what they hadn't found, and there was some embarrassed silence when I said that I had heard the entire conversation.

When trying to order parts from your local VW place you need to be a bit assertive--take your chassis no. to imput in their computer--if they it aint in uk stock get them to check German stock--if the part physically exists-within VW--they can deliver it--not a good idea to phone--you will need to identify the part from their computer screen--

Leaky filler
Emma - I've had this problem and fixed it reasonably well with some kind of gunge I had in the toolbox - will need much cleaning up tho as you mention. You may get away with it too - the oil doesn't have much pressure behind it as you pour it in after all!
