Newbie Engine and smoke quesion.

Post by northerntrainee »

Hi I've had my 87 1.6 td for a while and it runs fine ( as far as i can tell )
But on longer runs Intermittently belches out a flume of smoke ( think James Bond escaping the Russians) It also seems to have oil spots on the rear door from the engine?? It Seems to pull fine and the engine feels no different whilst it's belching, and doesn't seem to be Gussling Oil.. If I'm asking an often asked question my apologies!

Cheers

Matt

Black or blue smoke?
Prob black when under load and full throttle?
oil on back door will be from a breather/leak...

A TD "expert" will be along in a min....
