Removing front shocks

Hello all, was going to lower the van this afternoon and couldn`t get top bolt of the shock off the whole thing was rotating, i`m assuming i have to grip the flat bit at the top of the shocker, unless someone has a better idea?

Thanks Kieth i guess i`ll have to buy some new front shocks.
