Hi Guys
I have a 1982 Aircooled 2.0L and wondered whether anyone has a second hand standard fuel pump?
Secondly, I am considering fitting a recon engine this winter, however someone in the trade has warned against it, claiming that they are just spruced up second hand junk.
I appreciate that they are only reconditioned and in an ideal world a new engine but would be wonderful, however I have to stick to a tight budget so new engine is out the question.
Does anyone out there have any experience of recon engines?....perhaps recommend a supplier or even warn against some!
cheers

Murf, your no doubt aware that the mechanical fuel pump for the 2.0l CU engine is no longer avaiable new.

It is possible to fit an electrical pump or alternatively try & find a good secondhand pump. You could put an advert in 'Classifieds' - 'Wanted' on this forum or you could get in touch with VW Heritage who sell secondhand parts, particularly those which are no longer available elsewhere. You will need to email them about availability of a mechanical fuel pump as that item is not listed on their website.

Tried VW Heritage already...no go, may have to be an electric one, only £30 though.
Have also contacted boxerdog, hopefully!, not sure how the PM thing works
