Brake Light Switch(es)

Post by Sir Chad »

Bit of a question and answer in one here...
My brake lights stopped working, I quickly traced the fault back to the switch in the master cylinder, I noticed that there is another switch in the master cylinder with nothing connected to it, stuck a multimeter across 2 of the 3 terminals and found that it was making when i pressed the pedal so swapped the wires to this switch and now have working brake lights. Easiest repair in the world by why did VW put 2 switches in there?

I wish they had on My van. I change them every 12 months on mine due to failure.
