Hot water for a shower

On sunny days we use the solar bag, other times, we boil a big kettle of hot water and mix with cold to required temperature in a bucket. One bucket is plenty for a shower.

I bought this shower set-up from a caravan accessory shop. They were on special offer for a tenner. (It would seem that the caravan fraternity have no need for such a basic shower what with the end bathroom etc.,)

Anyway, it is attached to the roof just above the guttering with a suction cup. The pump placed in the bucket of water, the power is via the 12 volt system and the water is switched on and off by a waterproof switch.

For a shower in complete privacy we use this set-up hooked up in a small toilet tent, which also houses a couple of hooks for towel and dressing gown. The perforated rubber mat that we use by the door of the camper is ideal for standing on so as not to get muddy toes. All very civilised don't you know.

Got one of these and the JK kit. The nylon shower curtain from the kit is a bit clingy. But the tent is ace and a bargin at £12.99.

At the moment I have an inbuilt shower in the van. To use it you roll yourself up into a small ball, squeeze into the passenger footwell and just wait for the rain.
I am thinking about getting rid of it though

Presumably there are two challenges here: how to create a shower (plenty of ideas and seems pretty easy), and how to get hot water.

I bought a small calorifier from eBay (ex BT van) which taps in to the engine cooling circuit. Originally got it to go in a Landrover expedition vehicle I had, but never fitted, so now considering installing it in a the T3.
The main benefit is that it uses the engine's heat rather than burning additional fuel, but you therefore only get one load of water per trip. Ideal for overnighting, but not for a longer stay on one site.

It is small enough to go in the bottom of a cupboard or under seat.
Has anyone else installed a thing like this into the cooling circuit? Might be an additional task for next service to save me buggering up the coling system.

but not sure how long the van would last - can you imagine the moisture and leak problems?
Ultimately you are still limited by how much water you can carry - and heat.
