What are you doing to yours over winter?

Post by poshbuggers »

Now the show season has ended I am looking at the things I want to do for next season.

Last year I transformed mine from this somewhat battered and rusty truck....

to this more solid and presentable version....

The truck gave us fine service and we travelled Europe, the UK and did some shows too.

This winter I have a list of work planned, some mechanical, some cosmetic and some practical. This includes the engine conversion (1.9WBX to Audi 5 cylinder), NATO box, suspension lift, wheel change and a few other bits I am going to have to make up myself.

Here's what I call 'phase 2' for 2008. I knocked it up in Photoshop using one somebody has already modified as a basis.

What are you hoping to get done?

Ohhhh. Picking it up from the SyncroNutz boys (hopefully later this month), and then sorting a new interior before next summer.

Little taster taken a few weeks ago of the extensive job they've been doing.

That is going to look great. There is something so right about those rims on a Syncro.

Thanks!

Yeah I love em too..... they look especially nice after Dave Futbus got them refurbed and powder coated for me.

I've got another set for off-road that are more beaten up so a quick flash of matt black methinks!!!

Didn't notice the rims, was too distracted by that nice lift you've had done.

Yeah, about that lift....

Was it inserts above the springs or something more complex?

It has been raised - I fitted one of the Syncro.Org/van-cafe lift kits + a set of OMEs. Though I expect I'll lose some of that height when I start adding the interior back in.

Your right Clive - it's had one of Russels' front end modifcations to increase the angle of attack. It made sense considering the state of the orignal metal (or complete lack of any of the original impact strengthening!)

I must admit I really can't wait to see it in person now.

They are both going to look great.

I'd love to have a good go at mine (it needs it!) but am skint as per usual.

Might try & do something with the interior to make it sleepable, get the diff-locks working, also a DIY spray job. but we'll see.

:D

Got a front bush to replace and going to change the coolant, just trying to remember why I save these jobs till the winter. Think I like laying on wet tarmac!!

Like your van Sonic just one question what's the spec of your rims, I've still got a dilemma whether to get steels or Alloys? Guess I would have to get longer studs for the alloys.

Anyway better go outside and assume the position!!
