12 volt wiring

Post by chiz »

I am about to put a new cigarette type plug onto my old 3 way fridge and now wonder which is the positive and negative points. on the plug itself is it the pointy bit at the end that is + or is it the bit up the sides. I am not very electrically minded, also colour blind but shoulsd be ok with red and black.
Any thoughts anybody.

The centre connection is the +ve ... the outside walls are -ve. There would be a very good chance of a short to earth if the outside was +ve !!

I ran a new fused wire from the battery to the rear of my Caravelle and fitted the socket on the lower rear seat cover plate (easier to fit there than in the side cards!) I ran the -ve connection to a seat bolt as this was a good ground (-ve)

Hope this helps :D
