Anybody interested in a cheap vegoil conversion?

Post by just_vegin »

There is a good chance that my friend Stephan, author of the book "The Edge of Veg" and long time T3 vegoil mechanic will be coming over from Germany next week (first week of October) and he has asked me to see if anybody is interested in getting their T25 / T3 converted to run on vegetable oil while he is here.

He will be in the South East for the week I think (his plans are not fixed yet) and would be doing the conversion as a mobile service - he would come to you.

Cost for the parts and installation would be somewhere in the range £500 to £550 depending on your choice of system (single tank or twin tank system) and which parts are used. This is a very cheap offer given that kits for DIY conversion typically cost between £325 (for BioTuning kit) up to above £700 and installation costs £400 plus on top of that!

you can check out the BioTuning website for more details on the benefits of driving on used cooking oil (I really do feel strongly about pushing the use of old cooking oil from your local pub or take away - it really is a simple thing to do).
In a nutshell, the main reasons to run on used vegie are
1. Really environmentally sound - recycling a waste product and carbon neutral.
2. entirely free fuel - it pays for itself VERY quickly then you save a stack of money
3. it smells good!
4. you become self sufficient for fuel

anyway, please let me know if you are interested.

cheers,
Mike

I understand that there is no duty to pay anymore.
You can use up to 2500 litres per year.
I am interested in running my to diesel T25 on the old vegie oil

Yes, this is correct - so if you collect used oil from your local pub etc and filter it, you get free fuel. And the T25s run very well on it with a few small mods.

the slight mods required are described on my website...

www.biotuning.co.uk

essentially for a twin tank kit, this is a fuel select valve, a heated filter, heat exchanger and a second tank plus all associated fuel and coolant hose, fittings etc and the electrics required for the valve. these parts (less the tank which is down to space and personal taste) are listed in a kit at the above site for £325

with a single tank it is heated filter, heat exchanger, upated glow plugs, uprated injector nozzles and adjusted timing plus some tweaks that Stephan may make to improve things...

Pretty sure Stephan won't be bringing across any engines!! just the parts needed to convert an engine that is already there!!!!

cheers,
Mike

Are you saying this kit/Stephen's conversion is for the petrol engine?

No, you will need a diesel engine to run on Veg oil
