Replacing 1.6 A/C with 2.0 A/C?

Post by oxford_guy »

Is it straightforward to replace a 1.6 A/C engine with a 2.0 A/C or will many bits need changing?

Hi Oxford guy,

try sticking this in technical....and do a search too - it has been discussed recently, and there are a couple of members who have done it.

If you get a complete 2L with all tinware, carbs etc etc etc then its an "easy" swap.. but you may want to get the gearbox from a 2L too.. as this has taller gearing than the 1600.
None of the 1600 stuff fits the 2L...
You may also want tio check you have a servo assist on the brakes.. as witht he 2L stopping will become a need rather than something you only have to do occasionally with the 1600

Okay, thanks for the tips, sounds like it could end up being expensive...
