australian syncro for sale!

Post by vwjon »

hi guys, telstra the aussy telephone company bought 500+ syncros so the could fix and install lines in the bush.
every so-often they pop up on e-bay the syncro's were all basic vans with no diff locks, but quad headlights, they all had the huge step bumpers on the rear and grab handles on the back tailgate, i think they were all vans but almost every one i've seen has at least 1 extra sidewindow. they were all white, most had / have roof racks.
from what i understand theres a quirk with the vin numbers but i cannt remember what. (soz, but i'm sure the anoracks will put me right!)
if your moving to aus or just looking at syncros round the world check this out.

None of the Syncro's ordered by Telstra Australia came with difflocks. As mentioned, it was a rather ludicrous decision made I believe on the basis of cost of course. I think they all came with AC, fitted in Aus.

The rarity of difflocks on Australian Syncros was one of the reasons I brought our Syncro home from the UK when I moved back.

Yeah that's me Si - I'm well.

We are due sproglett no 5 at the end of November - just as well I bought a Caravelle not a camper!

How are you doing?

I've still got your tank sitting in my driveway hoping that if I wish hard enough, it'll magically transport itself back to 'Blighty so it can be used again......

How're your family and France?
