POLO RANGER BULB

I know this is the wrong forum but alot of peeps on here are vw nuts so thought I would take a shot at it!!!!
Right here goes my mate has got an old 1989 polo ranger and the bulb has gone which illuminates the speedo odometer, now it looks to him (and somebody has told him as well as the book) that it cant be changed????
He has been told you cant get to it as you would be able to turn the clock back???
Cant see it my self but he has not got loads of money so aint gonna take it to Mr Vw!
Anyone no the car?
I haven't had a look yet but .....Ive got a drill!

buld can be changed. same as m2 golf. there are two bulds on a white plastic rail, on the back at near the top of the clock. Just remove the clocks and twist bulbs out. good luck
