Can this part still be purchased, or can it be taken apart and repaired. Went to all my local scrappys today but no luck.

Try VW dealer, may still be avialable (but rumour is they are expensive) they don`t look rebuildable. I can`t see them listed on ETOS, but a dealer will prove otherwise.
Keep it real.

They can be repaired, either the diaphragm replaced, or the intrenals have seized in some way, be careful removing the LDA pin, rotate it gently between thumb and forefinger whilst lifting it out, whilst making sure throttle lever is fully closed. Before that though, note and mark its position (diaphragm to lid, pin to diaphragm, so to get the eccentric in about the right position when re-installed)

Have you checked you have boost inot the chamber, not blocked, not cracked union or leaking?

Boost in the chamber? I have quite a bit of air/ blow in the vacuum pipe to the EDA. If i blow into the EDA through the vacuum, it only move slightly, very slightly.

My friends van, 1.6TD the EDA moves when the engine is revved. Same amount of air seems to be on the vacuum.

I have no power in first / second gear.

They can't be repaired, they are totally different to the LDA on other models.
They are a steel canister, whcih is crimped together.
