syncro wheel arch covers

Post by garyd »

No, I haven't got any!

But I have started a conversion with a fibre-glass manufacturer who alreadt makes some VW pattern parts and would consider making these if there was enough interest. He already has an original front set but would need a rear set as patterns.

I understand that there was only one rear type but that the front varied between the 14" and 16" models. I believe that you can fit 16" arches to a 14" bodyshell but cutting away a small amount at the rear of the arch.

I have no idea of costs at present and am only offering this up as a possible way for people to come together to source these increasingly rare parts which are distinctively 'syncro'.

If you think you might be interested, please reply saying whether 14 or 16 would suit you.

thanks
Garyd

Can I have them in army-green? :D

Seriously ...If you post your offer here:

http://ig-syncro16.de/dragonfly/index.php

Probably best under "Teile & Zubehör" (=parts & accesories section)
should get enough interest between here and there to make enough to keep the cost in semi-sensible regions.

Pencil me in for a set of 14" ...if the price doesn't hurt too much

I'm not a member of ig16 btw, I just know of it

There's also the Tristar arches which seem to be getting rather like rocking horse doo doo at the mo.

251853717 obsolete at 18/10/06
251853720 " " 26/04/07
251853817 " " ""

251853718 £76.74
251853719 £58.77
251853818 £ 65.34

That ebay item seems very expensive.
Mine are a little tired, but I think I will probably paint them to freshen up the colour.
The purpose of the front ones is to protect the wheel arch from mud splatter so that when you open the door the front wheel arch is clean. It really makes a difference in getting in and out without covering yourself in mud.

For that price you could get a lot of tracky botoms from asda and chuck them if they get too dirty!
