Starter motor

Post by munroman »

Hi, my 1983 DF was getting hard to start, I thought it could be the starter bush.

However, when I stripped down the motor, the copper braided cable was badly connected to the solid wire on the motor.

There seem to have been a crimp type connection, but it has corroded and broken.

My question is, can this be resoldered, my own iron isnt powerful enough, or is it a recondtioned motor, and if so who make the best ones?

Thanks for any help or advice.

A local auto electrician would solder it for you for minimum rupees. As for the bush i'd replace it while you had the starter off.Theres some info on its removal on the WIKI bit of this site.

If your starter is old(as it will be now) best to get it totally reworked by auto elctectrian, or get a recon, as the solder problem will be the start of other probs.
was for mw anyway :(
