just been doing some trawling through the net and found some info on syncros if i had half a brain id be able to post the link but i cant... :oops:
it states syncro production numbers



SYNCRO Total Production - 43468 (of these 2108 were right hand drive models)



Single Cab Pick ups (M245) 1787 produced.

These vehicles were only available in the UK with 1.9 litre petrol or 1.6 litre turbo diesels.



Double Cab Pickups (M247) 6849 produced.

These vehicles proved to be very popular & were generally available with the same engines as the pickup. However a special "Tristar" model was produced fitted with a 2.1 litre petrol engine.



does anybody know if this is correct as i have a syncro 14 rhd and better start looking after it more if thats the case :o

I know of at least one 2.1 Sinka RHD, factory, late, most very late petrols seem to be 2.1

pretty sure mines only 1.9 wish it was 2.1, its apanel van on log book but has front an rear diff locks sure its orginall rhd. can i tell by chassi number...thanks

Syncro History

Yes, Simon Holloway wrote this history and compiled those figures from research I believe..

Simon posts on here occasionally as SYMCRO, owns/owned at least 2 syncros as well as other VW/Porsche models and is also principal Vanfest organiser

Caravelle figures are in there too.

Nothing wrong with a good 1.9DG engine... :)

Hmmm

Doesn't seem to break down to the RHD caravelle numbers.

Any ideas of numbers?

I have read it somewhere over the years.
Under 300 from memory.
1990 Caravelle GL Syncro.
2003 SOHC EJ25
Petrol/ Injected LPG.

out of the 2 and a bit grand rhd south africa had 1815 or 1817 I believe, they built them up there as they brought their plant upto T25 production, the Australians had I believe 300, factor in specials in other markets eg far east, middle east, and probalby less than 300 uk market syncros originally, 18 Tristars, probably less than a hundred pick ups of all types and about a hundred vans, hundred velles I'd guess. Someone somewhere will have the figures but wether they will ever come to light I doubt, the T25 hails from that period during mass digitalisation and paranoia about business confidentiality, probably lost the records somewhen a pc fell over in the early 90's. It's a shame the build information for the T25 isn't complete on the system so that Etka and Etos can retrieve it, that functionality comes from the next generation of vehicles.

They also dont include any of the SA syncros.
