Swivel base woes

Post by lukewheels »

Hello, wonder if anyone can help on this. I bought a swivel base from Vanfest on the understanding that it would fit my 1981 T25. It doesn't by at least an inch on either side of the rails and seat, it's too narrow. I took the seat off and can't see what you could bolt through on the existing rails: it's too tight to get bolts in. Any ideas what the narrower base fits and what base I need? Anyone need this narrower swivel base?

Hi Luke

Have a look at the base plate it should have four holes, one in each of the front corners and two at the back about 4" in. These should line up with the four holes in the runners on the van. If you post a photo someone will get back with the details of what it is for.

You haven't bought a 'weld in' type have you? if you have it fits BETWEEN the existing rails and needs to be tack welded in.

You should be able to tell if it is because there should be evidence of where it was welded onto the old van.

I don't think it is. It has holes for bolting in and no signs of welding. I'll take a pic and see if it's identifiable.
