My fridge works fine on gas, but when we're running it doesn't stay cold - it used to a while back but no more
The old owners used to pull the spade connectors out when parked so it wouldn't drain battery but people here said tha shouldn't be an issue as only receives a charge when driving?
Haven't made any wiring changes but have replaced leisure battery.
The 'thing' I've circled in this photo does get pretty hot when we're running along though - is that at fault?
I think Macflai's right. Can you unplug the white cable?
If that black cable comes from the battery & the white cable leads straight to your fridge, then I guess you could do without that plug/socket/connection entirely. You could wire up directly to the cable using regular household connectors.
I certainly do not have any such connection from my battery to the fridge.
Is everything else working OK that's connected to your new battery? I have several cables wired up to my battery. Any chance you could have missed a connection? Just suggesting possibilities.
Looks and sounds like it could be a poor diy job. strip it out and rewire it properly through a relay. not a big job and all the info you need is in the wiki.
"Who am I, why am I here? Stop asking questions someone get me another beer!".
Mine is exactly the same...so could be factory fitted. it is a "small" cigar style plug - can't remember the name at the moment (and mine does not work either )
Same set up as mine was as well..... early Autohomes were like this.
I had a problem with mine though as the 12v cable over heated and set on fire so all that came out of mine and i now have a switch on the dash to turn it on when i am driving.
Get it checked out if your not sure about it as i can testify its not nice when your putting a fire out at the side of a motorway .
