Front hub nut...

Post by VWCamperfan »

Hi all.
Anyone know what size socket i'm going to need for removing the front hub nut? Got to change mine as the discs are wearing a bit thin for braking now and want to make sure I have everything ready before it's all in bits!
Cheers.

I did mine recently but i can't remember the size! what i can say is that it will be no bigger than 32mm because that is the biggest socket in my set!

You may want to put new nuts on because they are designed to 'tab' over on the end to stop them undoing and hence reccomend replacement, also you may know this but the wheel bearings are set into the disc so you need to either remove the 'cups' from the discs or buy new bearing kits!

The nut is 27mm IIRC, as has been said it's a pein nut with an extended 'nose' on it for sinking into the shaft to lock it. BTW the nuts came in with the bearing kit ... or at least it did with mine.
