After my exploding engine trauma the other week, I now have a new engine thanks to Dave Futbus and lots of other new parts to replace all the bits the engine managed to destroy too. Thanks for the flywheel CJ.
I have taken the immobiliser off the fuel pump and connected the two cut-offs together. I have a green wire and yellow wire that come out of the bottom of the pump and a thicker black wire that currently have nowhere to go - do I need to do anything with these or just leave them???
Really hoping to be back up and running in the next couple of days as being stranded in North Devon with the in-laws is really starting to grate.
Thanks
Graeme

1Y fuel pump wires
1987 Vanagon GL 2.1 MV engine code
I have three wires that are currently hanging around doing nothing - apparently, two are for the immobilizer - but they dont seem to mind not being attached. I have no idea what the third wire is for.
I bought a seat ibiza haynes manual to try and work this out - but its useless and doesn't go into such detail...

Has not been a great experience, the engine I bought as a replacement in good faith from an 80-90 member was totally screwed, head cooked, oil pickup melted and rocker cover is also warped. Seller didn't even have the courtesy to call or email me back.
I found a company through find a part based in Birmingham who supplied a rebuilt re-con 1y engine for £699 exchange. You only get the head and the block though have to swap everything over - pulleys etc. But seems ok, am sorting out a few tweaks with the garage so hoping this one is better and lasts a lot longer! If anyone's interested I'll put you onto them.
Kind of wishing I stuck with the 1.6 and the slow up hills thing now - would have saved a load of cash and I might be doing my 3 month travel around Europe rather than staying with my inlaws...
