Awnings - shelters

Post by vic20 »

As there are 4 of us we tend not to sleep in Bill but use a tent, so our proper awning [frame type, weighs slightly more than your average black hole] is redundant.

So we have rigged up a sun shade using a tarp and a couple of clips like this

Only problem is it is a little temperamental - falls of in the wind etc

Anyone tried rigging up something like this?

any success??

We got an Outdoor Revolution "Easi Canopi" and there was a bit of a discussion about it here:

https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... ght=canopy

Haven't seen that Outwell canopy before but with it being for a tent have you decided how you'll fix it to the side of your van? How do you fix your current canopy, have you been using the pole and clamp arrangement? If you do a search on here there's been quite a bit of discussion about how to attach awnings, which you might find useful. Ian Hulley posted a link to a site which had info on this topic as well, I'll try to find it again.

Cheers

Tony :)
