HELP!!!!!!!! damn exhaust stud removal MIDLANDS

tried heating and stud extractor but can't get them out anyone in the area that can HELP !!!

you can get some freezing spray, quite expensive though and didn't work for me when try to remove gearbox stud.

I think the general opinion is lots of plus gas and some brut force! you could try and tighten it a bit first just to break the rust seal.

left handed drills..?
very good quality easy outs?
or
drill and tap, which is most likely the quickest and easiest but quite scary.

Have you tried welding a nut over the stud. The heat goes down and heats the stud and head and then you have a good nut to get spanner/socket on. Works 99% of time. If you have no stud to put nut over, then try filling with weld to build up the stud.

I had this problem too. In the end most came out with plus gas and heating with a blow-torch, but three of them we had to angle grind the exhaust off, which left a cm or so of stud to weld a nut onto. Eventually all but one came out cleanly like this with a bit of heavy handed persuasion. The remaining one had to be drilled, tapped and helicoiled.

Replace them with brass studs and nuts!

been halfords tonight got some

Engine down, drill and tap .... deep joy

replace everything with quality new parts, coppasliped of course, and copper flashed aerotype nuts.

Sadly it's just one of those things

I have completly avoided mine purely because I know it would be hard, but in the time and £40 or so you have already spent I am sure you could have dropped the engine and drilled them out by now, you can fit the exhaust whilst it is out too and make sure you are happy with it.. I mean is it just one stud or a few? the ones near the gearbox are going to be a nightmare to get to with anything.

well i managed to get one out
but the very nice man at ats has fixed it by using acet torch and a socket hamered onto end
so fingers crossed she passes mot tomoz
