Overheating prolem

Post by j_robi »

Have been having overheating problems for far too long now! Just about survived the camping trip to pembs, but couldnt trust her to go down to Devon/Cornwall.
Last week the sensor gauge went over where it should be and overheating light flashed away. Water far far too hot.

Flushed the system. Bled her. Checked the radiator. Checked fan went on and off. Then decided that would have to take the thermostat out in order not to restrict the flow of water. So...now...she is all good when on the move, however, when stuck in traffic/idling/in town the gauge and water sensor and temp gauge go off.

What should i look for next??

Checked fan went on and off.

you have a fan?

my advice is break the temp guage and simply put on the heater every 20 minutes to make sure it is still coming through hot, if it ever comes through cold you know you have run out of water.

As the overheating occurs only when in traffic/in a town, could it be that the veins in the water pump are damaged?

or maybe that the fan switch is not functioning correctly

anyone with ideas appreciated
cheers
