What engine is a 2.21 injection

Post by futurecut »

My pal has borrowed her sisters van and it's got a 2.2i in it. I believe it's standard - it's a weird bus with South african grill and lamps. - got a DG one here - would it fit?

Need a new alternator for it

Mmm. could be a SA only conversion.. is it a wbx? or an alternative engine? Could be a 5 cyl inline (Audi) but I think they used the 2.3...

It sounds amazing - my hunch is it's an audi - i only got a quick glimpse in the engine bay--cranckase was blue if that helps. Also saw that the exhaust was giant and went up towards the cab underneath and then turned 180 degrees to exit to the rear- figured it need a longer zorst for pressure or something.

It's a baron conversion?

Anyway need an alternator any ideas??

Baron conversion??....what engine or interior cos it's a Sarf African set up alright...i've got 2 of the beauties. :D
What year is it?

As for the alternator it's the same as an Audi 100/200 2.2 engined one(which will probably be the same as something else VW/Audi)....or at least it should be if it's a proper SA van.

It's got a big heavy leather dash, vdo guages, paltry little 35AH leisure batery and a conversion with 3/4 r+r made mostly out of contiboard. It's not the best conversion IMHO as it's got a bulkhead behind the drivers seat and a buddy seat behind the passengre- i prefer spinny seats. A bit dark inside too. The poptop roof is leisuredrive though and it's all two tone blue colour coded. Massive big alloy wheels too. It is a noisy "bar-steward"!

I'll try to post a picture of it. (it's a bit wasted on my pal really.....much better if i had it!)

Yeah I know they did 2.5 and 2.6 5 pots too, just refering to the 2.2 wasnt VW they used the 2.3 in the official so would be a conversion using the 2.2..
(my Audi 100 has the 2.2, nice engine..)

From the exhaust, its a 5 cyl.. only way to get some lenght and silencer..

Harry.. interested in a 2.2 wbx?

It's coming round for a pre-trip tinkle tomorrow so i'll check the mileage then. It's showing signs of rust in the usual places. My bus has taken a beating this summer as has a few round my way i wsee regularly. I've bought a t4 now for european trips so i'm moving away from t3's. Shame tho 'cos they're just such a better shape to start with.......
