Best - well cheapest - way of removing grease is washing up liquid - bubbles like heck but it'll get it out far quicker than carpet shampoo...... :D

Coolant is mostly ethlyene glycol, which is completely water-soluble. All that should be required is sufficient rinsing with clean tapwater. The best way must be to remove the carpets from the vehicle, hose down and leave somewhere warm and ventilated to dry out. Failing that, use a bucket of warm water and several cloths to first soak, then soak up the dirty water. Do this several times until the water is coming off cleanish then find some way to keep the vehicle ventilated until the carpet dries out.

I find the kitchen floor better cos you don't have issues with getting stuff on carpet (unless you are foolish enough to have carpet in your kitchen). However, its not so good when it stinks of gearbox oil for weeks
How about cv grease off bedroom carpet?
Cheers,
Sam.

Just why does that stuff not only stink to high heaven, linger for ages, but also ends up smelling like cat's pi$$ - and a randy un-neutered siamese Tom to boot - Ugh!

The smell will be due to breakdown products of ethylene glycol, eg. amines, which have an ammonia-like smell.
