Rear Bumper Removal

Post by mikey9 »

Had a go last night (1991 Camper - big fibreglass bumpers) at getting the rear one off.

Two bolts on underside (13mm and corroded badly - one snapped!) also found end cap mounting brackets under rear corners and undid these - and it still wouldn't budge.....

...then I found the two that hold it on properly into the bumper mounting points - accessed from the inside of the bumper - but the bolts I could get my fingers to but getting tools in there is another thing altogether.

I am guessing a socket with all the extensions I can muster but the re isn't a lot (any) room and I think it is going to take a fair bit of persuasion.

Any advice..?

also found my rear big bumper a sod to get off, corroded bolts, and the fact that a towbar is fitted may have added to the problem, a bolt each side needed a spanner slipping between bumper and bodywork, may have gone about it the wrong way! the side brackets were def hardest to undo.
