Autosleeper HiTop sealing the rear joint

Post by andyvw »

I have what appears to be a common problem with a roof leak.

The roof is sealed to the van just above the rear door , this a "T" shaped rubber strip , where the base of the "T" is sandwiched between the fibreglass top and the steel roof. To keep the strip in place holes are drilled through the top , the strip, and into the roof for pop rivets.
Well over time , water leaks in , rusts out where the pop rivets go , and bingo water gets into the van behind the roof lining and runs down the side.

Any suggestions as to a good sealent , silicon won't bond to the rubber strip effectively.

I'd like to replace the rubber strip , but can't find a suitable match , so any suggestions welcome.

Sikaflex window bonding sealant will sort you out when you get the new seal.
Keep it real.
