Sounds to me like a partial blackage in the carb. Just for a quick job, take off the air filter inlet to the top of the carb, start the engine and open the throttle so the engine go to high revs. When at high revs, put your hand over the top of the carb to make a seal and to prevent air from getting in, then release the accellerator. You will feel a vaccuum on your hand, this is normal but hopefully it will suck out any blockages in the carb. Only takes 5 mins but may save time if it works.

Yeah, it does stall it, floods the engine... You think you've broken it for a while! If it seems better then it could well be a blockage in the carb. May need a strip down and clean including jets and emulsion tubes (the brass bits!).

Supermarket petrol is sometimes crap.

Drain and refill with good fuel.
Check your fuel filters are clean.
Take the air filter off and blow into the carb wth compressed air.

If that doesnt work, then do the carb stripdown and clean.

Check your fuel tank for holes, rust and rubbish . Also check the filler neck for holes, the ruber perishes sometimes and water thrown up from the front wheels goes into the filler eck, into the tank and then into the carb etc etc.
