2.1 fuel inj onto 1.9
Hi, i've been told that it's possible to put the fuel injection system from a 2.1 onto a 1.9 petrol. has anybody done this and can offer advice or does anyone know where i can get it done. Thanks Turtle

Mr Turtle please fill in your profile a bit so we know where you is.
It can be done, but requires a fair bit of work as although the basic blocks are the same apart from capacity, ie crank and pistons are different, the 2.1 needs the oil cooler and the cooling pipework is different as well as the ignition and fuel systems. You'd need the engine bay loom for the 2.1 and all the related ancillaries, air intake sytem, injection system, fuel pump and filter and the fuel tank is different but I don't know in what way.
I guess the question is why ? The americans had the 1.9 with fuel injection because of emmission regs and it wasn't more powerful or fuel efficient than ours with the carb, so I'd suggest staying stock. Also such a mod if declared might be a hassle with your insurers and if not declared and found out will give them grounds to dis any claim.

What about dropping a Weber onto it? They do a nice replacment kit that is supposed to solve all manner of problems at a stoke. I have a DCNF40 & custom manifold on an Mv and aside from some problems a few weeks ago following grot in the fuel/carb has run for a year with no problems (goes like a little rocket too
)
As far as insurance goes with changes I wonder if it will make much difference. I changed from a stock 1.9 to 2.1 with cams, followers, Weber and my insurance has not changed! Similarly I am not being loaded for -60mm springs/shox and 16" alloys.
