16 td starter changing

Post by Darbs »

its time to stop giving garages all me money so ive tried to put a starter motor on me 16td. Ive got the studs out no problem but, their is always a but !

I cant get the starter off due to some bracket that is on the left hand side as you look from the engine bay. Can it be taken out without movin it ?

thanks for lookin

The bracket holds the clutch slave cylinder. You should be able to wiggle the starter a bit to loosen it and then rotate it so the mounting lugs clear the bracket. Did mine the other day no probs. Don`t forget to disconnect the battery positive lead, as it`s a direct feed to the starter and you don`t want to short that
Keep it real.
