Ive got no answers for you but I have a similar problem with a 1y 1.9 non turbo of uncertain origin. You sound like you might be knowlegable.

i went to vw today and no2 is £36, you know where they can shove £36?? i also wanted a pressure switch for the brake lights £15. finally the switch cost me £5 from my local car spares shop and tomorrow im going to a hydraulics firm with the injector pipe to see what they will charge to make one up. saw your other post, will keep you posted...
