Any Engine

Post by squire »

This going to sound a bit bizzare but will any engine fit in the T25, for instance a 2 litre Turbo Diesel from a Rover 620...? i drive one of these on a regular basis and the economy is superb and it still pulls like a train. Someone has told me its possible but the lad is a known feeder in our area. So i thought i'd ask the man that can

Just about anything is possible, it all depends how much you "want it" :) People stick with VW generally because it`s just a nuts and bolts swap, rather than a new bell-housing adapter plate, clutch issues, wiring, exhaust, turbo angles and returns, engine mounts, starter motors, etc etc.

Other notable conversions with parts ready made for you are Subaru flat 4 engines (and maybe the flat 6 with some work) and also Ford engines have been done.

I can`t see any advantage of a Rover diesel engine over the easy fit of a modern 110 / 130 bhp VW TDi electronic control diesel, where everything has been done before, so is available from various sources, IF your pockets are deep enough
Keep it real.

The volkswagen engine would be a better engine anyway to be honest so youd be better going down that route.
