Hi there
We bought our 1988 Autosleeper in February and have not been able to get the fridge to work on gas. The pilot light ignites but goes out once you release the gas control knob. We have held it down for a while and this makes no difference. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? The fridge is an Electrolux RM212. We're off to a festival this weekend and really need cold beer and wine!!!
Thanks, Ali and Gary

Fridge Fault
Sounds like the Thermocouple is shot. Try a caravan service/ repair centre for further information (and how to fit it).

Thermocouple = Device which allows gas to be continuously supplied to a pilot light after initial lighting.

Dudes,
I would advise you to take the fridge out, look at the gas jet and clean it, take out any crap in the flu etc etc - however, i cant advise that because its gas - and unless you are confident with what your doing - dont touch it!
However, i took mine out, cleaned it, turned it upside down for a night and then re-fitted it, and now it works like a dream...
Good luck

Also, don't forget to check the gas bottle and make sure that it isn't nearly empty.

Can't get the fridge to work
Thanks for all the replies, plenty of food for thought. When taking the fridge out, where do you disconnect the gas? and do you have to remove the outside vents first?

Hooray...it works!!!!!
Hi there
Just to let you all know, we called a fridge engineer and he suggested taking the knob off and trying and blow me down, it worked. So pack the knob out a bit and hey presto, cold beer all weekend. Yipeee.
Nice one Luke (fridge engineer, number available if anyone needs him).
Thanks again for all your advice.
