VW van guru Brickwerks near you.
Guy called Simon Baxter.
So good he has a waiting list for customers wanting work done.
Go seek.

Of course it's worth the effort!

I used to live in Donny, but have moved away now. I can heartily recommend the advice above about Simon Baxter at Brickwerks over in Huddersfield.

Not sure which bit of town you're near, but there's a bloke on here called Rozzo who probably isn't too far from you.

As for 1986 Aircooled, then that does seem a bit odd to me!
You sound like you know what your talking about, but I did once meet a chap at a campsite telling me about his new Aircooled camper - until I pointed out where he should check the water and where the radiator was!
Quick way is to look at the front. One plastic grille with the lights in, and nothing else till you get down to the bumper = Aircooled...
Two plastic grilles at the front = watercooled!

Clean the old girl up a bit, and have fun! At the very least, change the oil and check the airfilter isn't full of muck.
