Hi all,

I've been a long time fan of Syncros and a lurker on this forum for quite a while. Last weekend I visited Mike (Busman.be) and have purchased a very nice 16" Caravelle TD which will become our family car in France. While in France I read the post on this forum regarding the Tristar found in a field. After talking to the poster a couple of times, I've bought that one as well to be used as a family car in England. Yes, I'm still married, in fact my wife is really excited and things both Syncros will be good fun. So the Tristar is going in for a respray, followed by an LPG conversion, and then replacing the Skoda Octavia 4x4 we currently have in London. And the 16" will be hauling stuff and people around in central France. Thanks to all on the forum for the info and tips. Looking forward to seeing you at an event in the not too distant future.

Regards,

Robert

Robert,

Congrats are in order then, double in fact, as you''re not lurking anymore but have made our acquaintance... :)

I do hope the Tristar is a good one, as I followed the find and refurb, it certainly seemed a cracker from this distance... yopu generally know as soon as its driven.

Mark Mudlark (above) has one (a RHD Syncro Tristar) as well a nice Syncro camper (well, more than nice) so you two are in good company !

Thanks guys. Yes, my wife did come from a genie bottle without a doubt. And, yes Santa came early. I'll send a post once the Tristar is all sorted and let you know how it' going. The 16" is going to become a camper over time. It will get a high roof and a camper interior, but I'm in no rush on this.

My first concern is to get the Tristar into the best original condition I can. (Structurally, mechanically, and aesthetically.) I'm planning to have the rust taken care of and a respray done to the original white and graphite two tone. Does anyone know where I could find the original colour codes for these two colors? I've already sourced the Tristar and Syncro decals from Brickworks.

I'm sure I'll be coming to an event in the not too distant future, and Mark and I can try and start a very small RHD Tristar Syncro club. If only 20 or so were built, how many could be on the road?

Take care,

Robert

If you still have the label VW provided it will have the paint code for the white on it. Usually stuck on the metalwork below the dash somewhere. Have never seen or known of the code for the gunmetal colour Tristars have though; but I too may be needing it soon !!
