Duel tank vs. single tank Straight Veg Oil SVO & poss. W

Post by mahatmacoat »

Okay, so now that they have decided to take the tax off straight veg oil, I'm more than happy to fork out a bit of cash to convert my 1.9 AAZ to run on vegetable oil.

I'm looking to run 100% SVO - Straight Veg Oil (and maybe switch to WVO - Waste Veg Oil when I have the time to sort a reliable source & set up a filtering/storage area) I am fairly handy with a spanner & a multimeter, so want to do a DIY installation. I also want to run my Eberspacher off it if possible?!

I've had a search through this forum & the net & as far as I can see, I have 2 options:

1. A dual tank system as offered by http://www.biotuning.co.uk/ & http://www.dieselveg.com/ amongts others. The disadvantages of this as far as I can see are having to plumb in a 2nd fuel system & finding space for a 2nd (diesel) tank.

2. A single tank system such as http://www.elsbett.com/gb/about-us/introduction.html They do a kit to go on the JX, but will have to check with them if it will be okay with a 1.9 AAZ. This obviously is a simpler installation & appears to allow any type of fuel to be used - useful when you're as forgetful about looking at the fuel guage as me!

I'd like to do a professional but budget installation to demonstrate the technology (I'm a lecturer in Automotive technology & would like to convert the students, staff, etc. to more environmentally friendly fuels).

Also, has anyone run their Eberspacher on correctly filtered & warmed SVO?
