Yep.
That's why a sign now exists behind the flip down panel which reads
"there WILL be consequences"

That's also why the fuel filler cap is now painted with indelible green fluoresecent ink !

If it happens again I know whose hands to look at .
Sad times we live in really :?

if your paranoid about it , fit either a lock or a alarm/buzzer to the flap

Not somuch paranoid as plotting to catch the T*at.
An alarm may work because it would alert me to tampering, alock would be no good for catching purposes.

I know on my van you can't open the filler flap at the back without the boot open? Is there any damage on yours?
