Did a search and found that a short shifter thread back in October 2005 where sukhoi27 and toomanytoys say it will work on TDs too. Have to remove shifter assembly from below floor instead of above to install it. I think toomanytoys was designer of the short shift being sold now. Maybe he can shed some light on the TD fit issue.

lloyd....I extended my gear leaver by 4 ins. With a home made extension.
This all worked well for several months, then the inevitable happened, yes it snapped off, the gear leaver, not the extension. I have had to re weld 3 times so far. The last time(last week) I inserted a length of rod into the broken section and welded rod and leaver together. I also removed the extension as I think this was the cause of the problem, ie... when the leaver vibrates the extra length increases the strain at the fulcrum point causing it to weaken, and eventually snap, in my case when selecting Rev to leave the car park.

Thanks OLD ONE. What did you use for the extension? I'm thinking of getting complete rebuild kit for all linkage while I still can. I have no idea what part numbers I need. Want to get the shifter shaft fulcrum kit for sure. Don't know if there are more then one kit for this.

Thanks,

Lloyd

lloyd... As I said, it was a self made extension. I turned a bit of metal up in a lath , drilled and taped one end to screw onto gear leaver, turned a wooden knob, drilled this and fitted it onto the extension.
Go for the Short Shifter. I have had them on all me vans, a good modification and easy to do. I got my one from Simon at Brickwotsits. As for the rest of the linkage, cant recommend anything there I'm afraid. I normally wait for thing to fall of before I think about replacing them
