Caravan (and Camping) Club small sites

Experienced campers, can you advise me on the difference between the Caravan Club and the Caravan and Camping Club.
I like wild camping & small sites, so an organisation which can point me towards the field-with-a-tap in the middle of nowhere variety would be ideal.
I have heard of CLs, but not sure whose club they belong to.

I've been a member of caravan and camping club for about a year, (much to the ridicule of some of my mates) and have used their sites regularly. Some dont even have a sign outside and would suit yor needs perfectly. I think they call them accredited sites, usually a field at the back of a farm. Highly recommended and inexpensive for chillin' weekends. I dont Know much of the caravan club but am told by caravaners that I work with that they are a touch 'cut above'.

Both the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club have Certified Sites which are basically small private sites that they review each year and have to reach a certain standard to gain the accreditation. The are supposed to have no more than 5 pitches but some generally do allow more in. Well worth joining both clubs as you have to be a member of the club that has given its accreditation to that site to stay there.

I've been a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club for over 25 years and use the certificated sites a lot. As already stated they are supposed to be limited to 5 vehicles at any one time, but sometimes you could be the only one in a couple of acres of field. All sites have basic amenities such as a cold water tap and a portaloo disposal point. These usually cost about £5 a night per vehicle. There are some that are a little more up market with marked pitches and sometimes even electric hook-ups and toilets and showers. These cost a bit more, somewhere in the region of £7 to £8. Although we spent a fortnight on one site last year with electrics for £5 a night.
Another good option is the Temporary Holiday Sites(THS). These are run by club members all over the UK from April to October. They are usually on site for various lengths of time from a week to 2 months. You can stay a day or weeks and you don't have to book in advance. Just turn up and you are always made to feel welcome. These again are £4 or £5 per night per vehicle.
